Togo, country of 1 620 000 inhabitants which proclaimed its independence in April, 1960, owes its name to a small African village, a place of the signature, in 1984, of a treaty of protectorate between the Germans and king Mlapa III.

His main products of export are the cocoa, the coffee, the phosphates, the cotton and the palm oil. Although situated in the tropical zone, the country enjoys a moderate climate.
